Liz Lynne pays tribute to Sir Cyril Smith New!

Liz Lynne, who followed Sir Cyril Smith to serve as Lib Dem MP for Rochdale from 1992 until 1997, has paid a warm tribute to the legendary politician, who died today, aged 82.

Telford & Wrekin Council consults on Elected Mayor or Strong Leader; vote now

Telford & Wrekin Council is reviewing its existing executive arrangements following legislation passed by the Government. The legislation requires the Council to change its executive decision making process to one of two leadership options, namely Strong Leader or Elected Mayor. The Council would like to find out your views on the two options. You must vote by August 31st.

As part of his ambitious plans to create a sustainable low-carbon economy, the Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Change Secretary has written to all local authorities to announce that from next week they will be allowed to sell renewable electricity to the grid.
