As an avid stargazer himself, Lembit Opik MP would like to advertise a great event taking place this weekend
PLANET WATCH
At Ruislip Lido from 7.30 to 10 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 19th, 20th and 21st March 2010.
Ruislip Lido is off Bury Street. Entry is via the gate adjacent to the free car park at the end of Reservoir Road HA4 7TY.
No admission charge.
The West of London Astronomical Society invites you to observe Saturn, Mars, and other night sky objects at Ruislip Lido from 7.30 to 10 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 19th, 20th and 21st March 2010. This will be a wonderful chance to view Saturn and Mars through a wide variety of WOLAS members' telescopes. If the skies are reasonably clear we may also get the chance to observe other night sky objects, including galaxies and star clusters. Members of WOLAS will be on hand to help and to answer any questions you may have. Bring your family and friends, it should be great fun, as well as informative. Don't forget to bring warm clothing, the nights are very chilly at this time of year.
Lembit says "As a star gazer myself, my only regret is that I won't be near Ruislip on those evenings, otherwise I'd most certainly be at the Lido. The prospect of observing our cosmic neighbours through some pretty impressive telescopes is not one anybody who's ever marvelled at the heavens should pass up. My grandfather was an astronomer, so I grew up with it. But you don't need to be an expert
to enjoy the event. Well done to Kaustav and the other organisers.
I hope you have clear skies and a great turnout!"
