Senior Citizens in Telford today had an opportunity to meet with their local candidates at a meeting organised by the Telford & Wrekin Senior Citizens Forum. Each candidate gave a short speech and subsequently there was opportunity to quiz the speakers.
LibDem candidate Dr Phil Bennion reassured the audience when he said "With regard to Personal Care we have been looking for some cross party consensus. We've got to work out a system that will work and will cover everyone"
He also stated in answer to a question on pensions that the Liberal Democrats policy of raising the threshold for income Tax to start from £6,500 to £10,000 will take the lowest paid workers and many pensioners, this would give people money in their pockets now.
Phil commented after the meeting "It was a good debate, the politicians got sparked a bit and there were some good questions with the debate becoming lively. It was pleasing to see such a group not just concentrating on pensioner issues but on real issues that affect all people"
